Gill

Well hello, come on in make yourselves at home.I'm Gill, pleased to meet you.

I finally took the plunge and decided to get myself a homepage.

I'm a writer, been writing all my life since someone gave me an old Imperial typewriter, I can't even remember how old I was, maybe about six. But as much as this heavy, cold, black metal object took up much of my bedroom it was the very instrument to change my life. Within two weeks I had re-written Journey to the Center of the Earth on lined paper. Later I realised there was such a thing as type writer paper and that it was blank. Much easier. I was hooked, the hammering of the keys was like music to me (not my parents) and when my sister broke the "T" hammer, I was devastated. It didn't stop me though, I just kept on typing but had to edit my work by pencilling in the "T" character. At school I studied typing and did several exams and then went on to work as a secretary.

I took a brief hiatus from writing when I had my daughter, but since she became an independant four year old I've been getting back into the swing of creativity.

It's good to be back

Master Engraver

When I'm not writing I enjoy being among friends, Madwordsmiths is the place we all hang out. I also contribute (when I'm lucky enough to have a piece accepted) and offer services to A Tangled Script of Intangible Soul Engravings (Atsoise). A perpetually evolving webzine; our aim is to break new ground in the publishing business, to supply the reader with fresh original works and, not forgetting, world domination of course!

I have some works there at the moment, feel free to drop by and check us out, we're a friendly bunch and won't bite...hard. I'll drop a link to it when I can figure how to do that. I write various bits and pieces, though recently my concentration has been on poetry. I'm not sure what genre I would put myself in, or if I would put a label on it. I like to experiment with language, see where it takes me; it's not just about finishing that poem or that novel, it's the journey of discovery you take within yourself to get there don'tcha think?

Alongside writing I enjoy listening to music, my tastes vary but right now Evanescence, Muse, Placebo, Mike Tramp and Audioslave are in my cd player. Inspiring stuff. I also play guitar. I live in Yorkshire with my partner, daughter and dog, Bella..

I long to travel but as of today my longing has been restricted to Wales and Cornwall.

And that's about it for now folks, next time you call by we'll get a deck of cards out and have a game of poker, maybe shoot some pool, crack open a beer or two.

In the mean time check out my blog

The River (Oil on Canvass) - by Gill Marshall

You are Form 3, Unicorn: The Innocent. "And The Unicorn knew she wasn't meant to
go into the Dark Wood. Disregarding the advice
given to her by the spirits, Unicorn went
inside and bled silver blood.. For her
misdeed, the world knew evil."
Some examples of the Unicorn Form are Eve
(Christian) and Pandora (Greek). The Unicorn is associated with the concept of
innocence, the number 3, and the element of
water. Her sign is the twilight sun. As a member of Form 3, you are a curious
individual. You are drawn to new things and
become fascinated with ideas you've never come
in contact with before. Some people may say
you are too nosey, but it's only because you
like getting to the bottom of things and
solving them. Unicorns are the best friends to
have because they are inquisitive.
